This article explains how to create a PlayStation Network (PSN) account on a computer or a PS5 or PS4 console (these are the only supported places for making an account).

How to Create a PlayStation Account on a Computer

The PlayStation Network (PSN) is a digital entertainment service for your PlayStation. With a PSN account, you can download games and other apps. Here’s how to create an account from your computer:

1. Open the Create an Account page at Sony Entertainment Network and selectCreate .
   
2. Select your country from the drop-down menu, choose your language, and fill out the other details in the form. PressNext when you’re done. WinUtilities Pro
3. Enter your date of birth into the appropriate boxes and then pressNext .
4. Enter your email address and create a password for your new PSN account.
   It’s highly recommended that you pick a password you’ve never used before, on any website. We have some tips for making a great password if you need some guidance.
5. Read the Personalized Content page and check or uncheck the settings as you see fit. SelectConfirm to continue.
6. Select Agree and Create Account .
   
7. Open your email and verify your address by clicking the link delivered to your Inbox from Sony.
8. Choose the Online ID that others will see when you play online games, then fill out the rest of the form with your name. ClickNext .
   
9. You’ll see a success message when you’re finished setting up your account.
   

How to Create a PSN Account on a PS5

If you already have a PSN account on your PS4, you can log in using the same account on your PS5 console. If you don’t have an account, you can create a new one directly from your PlayStation. Here’s how:

1. Go to the Home screen and selectAdd User .
   
2. SelectGet Started .
   
3. Read the user agreement and then, if you wish to proceed, press the box next toI Agree . SelectConfirm .
4. SelectCreate an Account .
5. Over the next few steps, you’re asked to fill out a variety of information. This includes your country/region, language preference, and birth date. Follow the on-screen prompts.
6. When asked, enter your email address and create a password for your PSN account. PressNext after doing so.
7. The next few steps ask about your name, location, and avatar. Complete the on-screen questions, pressingNext after each one.
   The name you pick is seen when you first power on your PlayStation.
   
8. Type the Online ID you want to use, then pressNext .
   Don’t use your real name! This ID is seen by other people in games, messages, and other areas.
9. On the privacy settings screen, select one of the available profiles. Or, chooseCustomize Settings to define things like who can see your real name and profile image in search results, within games, etc.
10. On the Data Collection screen, you’re asked if Sony can use your usage data to improve its services. It’s your choice: selectLimited Data Only orConfirm and Continue .
11. When asked about personalized ads and purchase recommendations, pick eitherDisable and Continue orEnable and Continue .
12. CheckI Agree on the Important Legal Documents screen, then selectConfirm .
13. Check your email! Select theVerify Now link in the email from Sony to confirm your account.
14. On the Secure Your Account screen on your PS5, select whether you want to require a passcode to log in and whether your password should be required at checkout. SelectOK .
15. SelectText Message orAuthenticator App if you want to turn on two-factor authentication. Or, selectDo This Later .
16. Optionally add a phone number to your account that Sony can use to help you reset your account if you can’t access it for whatever reason. ChooseDo This Later to skip this step.
17. Finally, selectOK . You’ve made a PlayStation Network account!

Here’s how to make a PSN account on a PlayStation 4:

1. With the console on and the controller activated (press the PS button), select New User on the screen.
2. Select Create a User and then chooseAccept on the User Agreement screen.

6. Choose an avatar. You can change this at any time in the future.
   
7. Enter the username you want to be identified as to other gamers. Also, fill out your name, but remember it’ll be public. PressNext .
   
8. The next few screens let you set your privacy settings. You can pickAnyone, Friends of Friends, Friends Only, orNo One for each specific activity**.**
9. SelectAccept on the final screen to accept the terms of service and user agreement.
   
10. That’s it! You now have a PSN account.

What to Do If Your PSN Account Is Compromised

• How do I delete my PSN account?
  Deleting your PSN account is an involved process. Contact Sony directly and request to close it, while providing your account ID and the email address associated with it. Once closed, you won’t be able to reuse that PSN account name and you will lose access to all of its associated purchases, subscriptions, and leftover funds in your wallet.
• How do I change the email address on my PSN account?
  Computer: Visit Account Management >Security >Edit next to “Sign-In ID,” set new email,Save . PS5:Settings >Users and Accounts >Account >Sign-in ID (email address) , enter new email,Save .
